Irisviel von Einzbern

Second in the pack!
Packaged with Saber, they were a limited Wondefest ‘07 summer special available from the Alter booth. 2,500 of these were available on the day, and another 2,500 of these were available for online ordering through Goodsmile Online Shop.

Irisviel von Einzbern (NOT Illyasviel von Einzbern) is the mother of Illyasviel von Einzbern, who were b- wait, anymore and I’ll prolly spoil it a bit =/

Not much else to say other than I’m happy that I managed to grab this, onto the photos!

Location

Exactly at the same place as Saber, although Irisviel was being photographed after Saber.
Not much else to say… ^^;

Setup

*sigh* Mini tripod really helps in these lower light conditions, if only I had brought it along…

Figure

Ok, onto business. Irisviel was packaged with Saber so I had expected the same level of detail, which was true enough. While Saber was sculpted by Adachi Satoru, Irisviel was actually done by Numakura Toshiaki. I’ll be honest, I have no idea who those two are ^^; Irisviel’s pose is one of grace with a hint of assertiveness, something I like.

Just like Saber, Irisviel is non-scale but is about 14cm in height. The actual sculpt is nicely done, just as much attention to detail to the clothing creases and seams. Her hair is beautifully done as well, flowing in the imaginary wind. Speaking of that, her skirt is also flowing in the direction. By the way, her skirt is also removable and she has a shapely behind :3

The paint is just as well done as Saber’s. The different shades they used are perfect in assisting the mould convey it’s depth in the creases. Her boots are also done nicely, a semi-gloss coat of paint that has a pearlescent shine. Irisviel’s hair on the other hand seems to be just one colour but if you look closely it actually has a similar effect of Saber’s in terms of the gradual paint. However I feel it wasn’t as well done as Saber’s.

Thoughts

Just like Saber, I had to scrap most of the photos due to an insane blur factor.
Taking photos of her without the skirt was ok, it was hard to tell that she had a skirt removed if you just glanced and see a figure ^^;

Summary

Like with Saber, Irisviel has a certain sexiness that I find charming. I know I say it a bit but I am glad I could get this set of figures, I’m totally satisfied with the purchase XD
Now if only they could make more Irisviel figures, I love her elegance~

Saber

Well well well, I finally got this done.
This Saber was a Wonderfest ‘07 summer special from the Alter booth, she also comes with Irisviel (NOT Illyasviel). I didn’t go there myself (no money…) but my friend managed to grab me the figures :3

For those who don’t know, Fate/Zero is a collaboration project between Type-Moon and Nitro+ being released as a series of light novels (Short novels with some pretty pictures). The story is actually a prequel to Fate/Stay Night and follows Shirou’s foster father, Kiritsugu Emiya.

Enough explanations, onto the photos!

Location

Today we visit the south side of the Old Arts Building, Melbourne Uni. Iriviel was also photographed here.
The date was 15th September, when the Melbourne Anime Festival was on, so I took this chance to take photos of the figures around the beautiful buildings of the Melbourne University campus where the festival was held.

The south side had few people walking through, and it also had quite a bit of tree cover with slips of sunlight to come through.

Setup

I FORGOT THE MINI TRIPOD! AUURGH~!
As the photos weren’t taken in full light, I needed the tripod to help get clear photos, unfortunately to my poor memory, I’ve forgotten the tripod.
I had to try and stabilise the camera to the ground with my fingers as I hold the camera, didn’t work that well, but it worked at least.

Figure

For a non-scale figure coming in at about 14cm, I had my doubts of its quality, but they were washed away once I actually had a proper look of it.

Alter has done a really nice job of Saber (and Irisviel), the sculpt is superb, showing nice creases and seams of the suit, along with the awesome pose of Saber pulling off her tie. The paint job is also pretty nice, having different shades of grey for the clothes and having a very nice gloss coat on the shoes and a nice gradual colour for Saber’s hair.

Thoughts

Well buggar me, by not bringing the tripod to stop the blurry pictures, I had to scrap almost all of the photos I took, the handful you see here are the ones which were deemed decent enough to post -__-;

Unfortunately this is also the case with Irisviel and the other figures that I took photos of at Manifest, sorry guys =/

Summary

Sexy, is how I describe this rendition of Saber. There’s something about it that I like now, the pose, the clothes, the fact that she’s taking off her tie…I dunno.
I’m quite happy about being able to get this limited edition so I have no regrets, my previous doubts are smashed. I’m not sure what else to say other than I wish she was a tad larger in scale but that’s really about the only negative comment I can think of.

Seeing Saber does make me want to get the Max Factory Kiritsugu but I’ll have to check my funds first…

Japan Packages

Today, I got what I wanted for a whiiillee~
I have a friend who’s staying in Japan for a year on the JET program (teaching english etc). Now, he’s also a fairly obsessive otaku and a kind one at that, he’d get stuff that I wanted from Japan that would otherwise be unavailable, or too costly for me to get.Today two packages came in the mail from him :3

This is all the things he managed to get for me during that whole summer event period in Japan, I wish I had given him more money…

That’s how it was when I got home with the packages, I opened then up and began my exploration and documentation of the items for both this blog, and for my database of all things otaku (this is going past 14k AUD…and I still haven’t included some items…).

Gao~! Finally got the Illya + Berserker plushie I’ve been trying to get for some time, and also the Saber Lion from Fate/Tiger Colosseum which is a Wonderfest Summer ‘07 exclusive.

Rawr~! Nendoroid Saber Alter and the non-scale Saber & Irisviel of Fate/Zero, both by Goodsmile Company (MY BOX, MY BEAUTIFUL BOX~!!!!), both exclusive to Wonderfest summer ‘07.
It’s possible that I’ll be bringing the Saber & Irisviel to Manifest for a photoshoot~ I’ll be scouting for places this Friday.
I’ve been so busy today that I haven’t even opened the figure boxes yet >.<

I managed to nab myself a super limited edition of Lucy Maria Misora maid version. The regular is pictured to the left in a white and red with green trims outfit, the boxed version is the white and black with gold trim. Only 950 were produced, 400 for Wonderfest Summer ‘07 and 550 for limited online orders. You can check the site at Wave, although you can’t buy it anymore…
Excuse me while I drool all over the box…

The two Fate Fantasm Boxes come choc-a-block full of goodies that just shouts ｷﾀ━━━━━━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━━━━━━ !!!!! The first is Illya, it comes with a book with character illustrations and other articles, and the second half has some fan manga which was fairly cute. The box also includes Fate Character Trump playing cards, a bust of Illya with blood and a BerserCAR! >:3

The second box is Black Saber, my favourite, the book contains the regular stuff but the fan manga is so cute :3 Along with this box comes a Black Saber tapestry weighing approx 50 x 65cm, a Black Saber eyemask bust and a flashing LCD keychain

I now have three busts, from left to right, the one I got with Computiq magazine and also weathered, the Black Saber eyemask version, and the Illya + Berserker with blood.

Also, the BerserCar lights up it’s right eye when you push Illya down XD

YES! Ito Noizi’s new artbook which everyone and their uncle has, it just oozes（；´Д`）ハァハァ with all the Shana art and her other works, it also includes other characters such as Alulu/Elulu, Bridget, the Melonbooks mascot and much more. Like the previous artbook GU-RE-N, KA-E-N comes hardcovered and a beautifully illustrated jacket. My friend also managed to grab me a poster with it but he had to send it another time =/
The KA-E-N came with this photocopied sheet by Ito Noizi for animate, a chain store in Japan :3

Now onto the two doujins (he would of gotten more if I gave him more money beforehand…) that my friend managed to get from Comiket 72. I requested for iDOLM@STER and he delivered on the goods.

First up is NORTHANM@STER by Ojo-Noyokusitu.
It’s a Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) cross iDOLM@STER parody! I know i know… but trust me on this, it’s hilarious! I laughed for a good few minutes and now my stomach hurts (although it’s prolly rather to do with what I ate…). My Japanese language skills aren’t that great, so I couldn’t really understand the whole story =/

Story goes along the lines of the Producer having to interview candidates for a new idol group, he gets the first five girls details and goes off to “interview” them.
After “interviewing” he goes back to the manager and eagerly asks for the next batch… *drools*

There ya go, all my stuff I got today in the mail, time to stroke my e-penis…I mean open up my figure boxes ^^;
